Briefing on Al-Fatah Mosque Siege, which started Aug. 16th, at 3:00 p.m., until Aug. 17th at about 2:00 p.m.
1. A young lady named Shaimaa (about 18) outsmarted the thugs and police forces besieging the mosque, aiming to turn it into a blood bath like Rabaa, and threatening those inside that "the killing will start at 3:00 a.m., Aug. 17th.
2. Using her tablet, Shaimaa tweeted asking honest media channels to contact her to have live streaming from inside the mosque, thus conveying to the world the right image of the peaceful, unarmed demonstrators, the casualties, and the dead bodies. Alhiwar Channel was the first to respond, followed by Aljazeera Mubashir.
3. It all started the dawn of Saturday morning, the anti-coup demonstrators had been held inside the mosque for over 8 hours with no way of going out and little media coverage.
-Police and army soldiers surrounded the mosque with the aid of thugs.
- Demonstrators inside had tear-gas bombs thrown at them by forces outside.
Causing one demonstrator to die of suffocation...she was denied medical aid.
- Shimaa Awad denied the allegations made by Egyptian television claiming that the bombs were thrown from inside the mosque, saying "that's a lie, tear-gas bombs aren't sold in the supermarket" She said they were thrown at them from outside the mosque, and that only Egyptian forces were able to get a hold of these bombs".
- The demonstrators were denied help, they were also threatened by thugs to have the mosque burned.
- Realizing that the whole world was watching live from inside the mosque and that their plan is about to be foiled by a tablet and a tennager, the army worked out a drama scene, sending a sniper on the minaret of the mosque (via helicopter) to shoot at the forces outside the mosque, thus giving the impression that the people inside were armed and shooting at the forces outside!
- The besieged denied this on live call to Aljazeera, since if they did have any weapons, why using them at 1:00 p.m. on Aug. 17th, after about 10 hours of being besieged without food or water, when they had good chance at night! The Imam of the mosque confirmed that the minaret had two door, the one on their side was firmly closed for fear of having snipers flying down onto them as they did in Rabaa; the other door was under the control of the thugs.
- The forces managed to break in - of course the people inside had nothing but a few sticks and wooden boards!- causing immense chaos and fear.
- Tear gases were thrown in huge numbers, and the thugs started to beat around arbitrarily. Those who were not killed were arrested, including Shaimaa. Many are to face charges of destroying public properties and intelleigence work!
